CRAFT (P) LTD has been involved in the
Handicraft business for over 3 decades. However, it was officially
incorporated in the year 1985. It started with a small shop dealing
in quite a limited number of products when compared to that of
todays. Over the years Amrita Craft has always been offering new
products and more varieties for their customers to choose from.
Amrita craft has long been associated with quality and diverse
products, which are now exported to many countries in Europe including
Scandinavian countries, U.K. Japan, USA South Africa and Australia.

NATURE
OF ITEMS:
INCENSE:
These incense sticks are mad in local Buddhist monasteries
scattered inside and outside the Kathmandu valley. Each stick
is rolled by hand. The ingredients used in making this sticks
range from 25 to as many as 40. These traditionally made incense
sticks come in many flavors including Sandalwood, Menthol,
Jasmine, Nagi, Amber, Musk and many more. It can be used for
ritual and meditation purposes, which gives positive impact
on mind and body. METAL ITEMS (INCLUDING
STATUES):
This Valley is the core place for manufacturing statues and
other metal items. The Newars of the valley, renowned for
being excellent crafts men for ages comprise the majority
of skilled artisans. Metals are casted using a primitive method
known as the lost wax method and metals used for this purpose
are Bronze, Brass and Copper. An exact model or pattern of
the article to be cast is made in wax from the original piece,
which is, at all times, a metallic piece shaped to exact dimension.
The raw model is made of Bee wax and incense powder from Sal
wood. They are then carved with clay like material to form
the mould. Thereafter they are plastered wholly with a paste
that is combination of cow dung and mud. Mixtures are applied
and then these dices are left to dry in the Sun. The composite
is further heated in order to solidify the metal. After the
piece has formed its shape, designs are carefully carved on.
Some famous figures of Hindu or Buddhist deities are Buddha,
Tara, Manju shree, Bajraswoto, Changreshi, Mahakal with each
of them in various poses and design. Mithila
Arts:
Mithila arts gets its name from the place where
these items are made called Janakpur and original descendants
called ‘MITHILA’. It s a place in terai region
of Nepal. Women in villages mainly do this type of arts. The
art includes image of Elephants, Peacocks, bride and groom
to symbolize prosperity and good future. Women also paint
religious images from stories of Hindu gods: lord Shiva Riding
in his bull, monkey-god hanuman flying over the waters with
Ram and Laxman on his shoulders etc. This type of project
not only enhances skills of women but also serves as a valuable
source of income for them.
HANDMADE PAPER:
Hand made Nepali paper is made from bark of a tree called
Daphne (Lokta). Paper products are available either as raw
pages or as wrapping paper, notebooks, post cards, writing
papers etc.
Charming pictures of Nepalese faces, scenes of local life
and religion are often printed as decoration. WOODEN
ITEMS:
Woodcarving flourishes among the Newar community in Nepal.
They use designs similar those on temple struts and pollards,
while some other product includes window frames tables, lamp
stand, photo frames, boxes of all sizes, asserted furniture
and many more wood used for this purpose are Teak, Sal or
Rose wood. GEMS AND JEWELLERY:
Stones native to Nepal are Sapphire, Aquamarine, Amethyst,
Ruby, Garnet and Tourmaline among others, which are also available.
These stones go best with Silver items engraved in various
designs and cuts. Silver items we sell are 92.5% Silver, Some
products offered by us are Necklaces, Chain, Bracelets, Rings
and Pendants and many more.
THANGKA PAINTINGS:
Buddhist Lama paints these Buddhist painting mainly as wheel
of life, Mandala (Symbolic of under the earth, earth and heaven),
Figures of Buddha’s ( Amitabha, Shakya muni, Medicine
Buddha etc). Tara Green (Dolma), White Tara (Saptalochan)
Gururimbu, Changrashi etc. Canvas and watercolor and gold
are used to paint these thanka. MUSICAL ITEMS:
Madal (Nepali Drum) Tabala, Dhangro, Damaru, Singing bowls,
flute, Cymbal, Bell, Gong, Wind bell, Trumpet, Mouth chang
etc are made inside and outside the valley.
Beside this many more Handicraft and Cotton & Woolen garments
and Bags and many other items are made by hand and with the
help of some small machine. |
